About
About Me
I’m a beginner, teetering on intermediate lifter. I’m an oldish guy who has been out of shape for most of my adult life. About 3 years ago I changed my attitude. I lost a lot of weight and discovered I like weight training. Being an oldish guy, I think recovery is a bit of a problem for me. I’ve been on a linear progression program for the last 18 months, but my progress has stalled for the last several months. As a result, I’ve decided to give the 5/3/1 program a try. You can find more about the program and how I’m running it in the “What the Hell Am I Doing Here” post.
If you’re looking for a 5/3/1 Calculator, check out my 5/3/1 Calculator post. It ain’t much, but if you crave a simple 5/3/1 calculator, it might serve you well.
Goals – Admire My Mediocrity
My goals are obviously to improve the 4 main lifts, but I specifically care about the squat, deadlift and bench. I would like to hit the 900 club this year, which isn’t winning any medals, but not bad for an older guy.
Specifically, I’d like to see a 450 deadlift, 300 pound squat and 200 pound bench. I currently weigh 185 and I’m 6’0 tall.
Purpose
The purpose of this blog is mostly to keep me focused, engaged and accountable. Secondarily, I hope it draws interest from other folks and that they may learn from my experience as it pertains to their goals.
